PITRIVISARJANAM

A fortnight (Paksha or 15 days) called as Pitripaksha and dedicated to pay reverence to the Pitars(ancestors) in Heaven ,comes to its end on this last day i.e.the day of Pitrivisarjan, today on 15th of October 2012.

Observing Pitripaksha with full sincerity and discipline is a deep rooted Hindu tradition to remember Pitars by descendants. During the fortnight members of a family try to live in a Tapaswee like routine and perform rituals like offering Pind-daan (Balls of cooked rice Atta etc.) say offering of eatables and Tarpana (Jal-Arpan) etc. to their Pitars-who always bless their families on this earth.

It did not mean much to me till May 2012 when Swargeeya Kesar left for Heavenly abode. But now I believe that these rituals or religeous actions are aimed to translate the memories, respect, feelings and inner thoughts into physical and religeous display. So the fortnight deserves appriciations because it is the time to recall, talk and think about great human values and simplicity of Late Kesar.

On this day we all family members pay our respect and say Visarjanam to all Pitras right from Bhishma Pitamaha to revered Kesar.......
